Camping & RV Parks

Zion National Park has three campgrounds. South and Watchman Campgrounds are in Zion Canyon. The Lava Point Campground is about a 1-hour drive from Zion Canyon on the Kolob Terrace Road. There are no campgrounds in Kolob Canyons. Camping is permitted in designated campsites, but not in pullouts or parking lots. Camping is popular; all campgrounds are often full by early afternoon on weekends and holidays. During June, July, and August, the campgrounds are full every night. Reservations at Watchman Campground are recommended if you would like to guarantee a camping spot. If you are unable to make a reservation, the earlier in the day you arrive, the better your chance of getting a campsite.

CAMPING: Fees are subject to change

South Campground Near the south entrance to the park. Individual camp sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis for $18 per night or $9 for holders of Golden Age/Access cards. Arrival before noon generally ensures a campsite. You may self register at the campground.

Watchman Campground Near the south entrance to the park. Individual camp sites are available on a reservation only basis for $18 per night or $9 for holders of Golden Age/Access cards. Sites with electrical hook-ups are $18 per night. Reservations can be made by calling 1-877-444-6777 or by visiting

Sites not reserved each day are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Group Campsites are available by reservation only to organized groups of 9-40 people for $3.00 per person plus $2.60 per campsite; (800) 365-2267. Facilities include rest rooms, drinking water, picnic tables, fire grates, RV dump stations, and utility sinks. Stays are limited to 14 days.

Lava Point A 6-site primitive campground, no water, no fee. Campsites are on a first-come, first-served basis. Maximum vehicle size is 19 feet. Open June-November. Other private campgrounds with showers and hookups are available in communities adjacent to the park.
A private campground in Springdale has full utility hook-ups and hot showers. Other private campgrounds are located within 25 miles of the park. The nearest hospitals are in St. George, Cedar City and Kanab.

Canyonlands National Park, located in the Colorado Plateau region, is a showcase of geology. Rivers divide the park into three districts, the Island in the Sky, the Needles, and the Maze. While these areas share a primitive desert atmosphere, each exhibits a distinctive character, and offers different opportunities for exploration.

As Titus Canyon Road in Death Valley reaches the foothills, it starts to climb and meander among the sagebrush and red rock outcroppings. The road becomes steeper and narrower as it approaches Red Pass, amply named for its red rocks and dirt. Enjoy the ride!
