Weather in Zion National Park in September

Nearly a week after seven people were killed, including six Southern Californians, when a flash flood hit Utah’s Zion National Park, video was released showing another group of hikers desperately running to escape the area.

The video, provided by Jordan Birnbaum and published by CNN on Friday, was filmed halfway up the 1, 500-foot climb to the popular outlook spot Angels Landing.

A man and woman hurriedly made their way down a muddy trail in the video as rain, and what appears to be hail, fall around them.

“Oh my God. We need to get down, ” the man says. “Guys, we need to go down. It’s going to flood.”

The man repeated this to several people on the mountain, warning them of the imminent danger.

As the pair ran, water cascaded down the mountainside making puddles and streams on the path.

Both hikers made it out alive, CNN reports, but Monday’s floods killed 7 others at the national park.

The group of seven was part of the Valencia Hiking Crew. Six of them were from Southern California, including a Ventura County Sheriff’s Office sergeant.

The deadly incident happened as a storm dropped 0.63 inches of rain in Zion Canyon in an hour.

Flash flood warnings were issued, but park officials were not able to get word to people already hiking, CNN reports.
